One

By Polly's Mom, Special to the PollyBlog.

Some people might say "I can't believe it's been a whole year," but honestly, that feels about right, because this child has changed so much. A year ago, Polly was a tiny squeaky thing and her parents anxiously recorded every feeding and the contents of every diaper. Now she eats nearly everything (and a lot of it), will barely hold still for a change of clothes, and seems to be just on the edge of really walking and talking.

Here, Polly enjoys a first taste of cake. She would have been much happier about the cake were it not an hour and a half past her usual bedtime - and yes, we tried putting a party hat on her for this photo, but she would have none of it.

Thanks to Polly's aunt Amy, and our wonderful friends Russell, Courtenay, Charlotte, and Madeline for coming to share the day, and to all of you who sent birthday wishes from afar. And happy birthday, Polly. We adore you.

Polly's First Pizza.

Polly is thrilled to discover a nonviolent use for her new teeth.

Sucker.

Polly trades a worthless toy for Madeline's treasured pacifier.

iPhones Are Not For Babies.

Polly patiently tries to explain to new best friend Calvin that only children of a certain age are allowed to play with expensive electronics.

No. 3

The third tooth was followed, in short order, by nos. 4 and 5, all up top.

Polly advises that they are fearsome, and she will bite if provoked.
