Opportunity Taken.

Months of training pay off for Polly, as she finally gets one of Mary Todd's paws into her mouth.

At far right, a PollyBlog staffer makes a belated attempt to stop her.

That picture is so hilarious. MT looks pretty mellow as well, back when Oslo was around there is no way he would have allowed that, and considering what he would walk through, that's probably a very good thing.

For the record, contrary to appearances, Polly didn't actually get the paw in her mouth. I'm all about letting babies get some exposure to dirt and germs, but chewing on dog paws is too disgusting even by our household standards.

If MT were smart, she wouldn't put up with it, but she's just glad someone's paying attention to her.

That's not what it looks like to me.

In any event, just because Polly doesn't have Mary Todd's paw completely in her mouth in this photo doesn't mean she never puts the dog's paws in her mouth generally. Or that I'm not watching her chew on the dog's toenails as I type.

Obviously, we require more sensational on line photos & text to promote viewer comments; more "paw in the mouth" & "baby completes dog pedicure" are indeed required to eliminate public apathy. Having written that, one is inevitably reminded of that infamous old shaggy dog tale with the punch line: "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw".......
